Looks Can Kill
It’s January, and just in time for the first day of 2011! We bring you the Snow Spirit, a woman who may sound innocent, but who, according to the Japanese, possesses the power to lure men towards her with her beauty, then freeze them with her icy breath, killing them on impact.
Who was this mysterious woman? The Japanese believed that the Snow Spirit was once a young woman named Yuko-Onna. She was beautiful, but due to a strange turn of events, she died tragically, alone, during an ice blizzard. Her spirit became angry about her early death and could not rest in peace, which is why she continually returns to haunt men in the shape of an icy-blue, ghostly woman, with a transparent body, long, icicle-like fingers, and a deadly breath of ice.
Read more about her in card #39 of our “Monsters of the Mind.”
